Summer Goes Out With A Bang

This summer has been really great for me. I've gotten to go to so many places, all of which I loved. A couple of days ago I got back from the anual week in Sandpoint, ( I look forward to it every year), and although I don't have pictures uploaded yet, I'm still excited to share about it!

First of all, this time around, I rode the 8 hour car trip to Sandpoint from Portland with my
Aunt Mary, Uncle Ron, my brother, my cousin-Chris, my older cousin-Rance, Aunt Nancy, and Rance's kid-Patten (3). I rode in Aunt Mary's car with Rance and the little guy, Patten. (who is, if I do say so myself, too adorable for words).  The drive didn't feel like  8 hours. The time flew by, (that is until we realized that we took the long way; the scenic route.) Patten was in the back seat dropping gumballs into cup holders; this activity kept him occupied for what seemed like a long time. He also was fascinated with train tracks and airplanes. I loved listening to him: he's the most adorable three year old I've ever met!
Anyways, when we reached our destination in Sandpoint, it felt good. We unpacked the cars, and relaxed for a while. I went with Patten to the miniature play-house that the cabins had in the yard. He kept saying "I'm going to make you some more coffee." (then he'd pretend to pour me a cup) "Now you get me some coffee." I had to laugh because a hyper three-year-old that had 10x the amount of energy than me wanted coffee. I pretended to pour him a cup, but he had a disappointed look of his face. "What?" I asked. "I want real coffee. Can you get it for me?" he said. -Ok, you have to understand that this little face isn't just a face. It's one of the cutest faces ever. It's one of those faces that the hardest thing to do is to say "no" to- So I replied, "We have to use what's in the house, buddy." which lead him to simply respond, "Ok." and he continued playing with the small plastic pieces of food.
It's moments like the ones that I just explained that I cherish deeply. Seeing my little cousin grow up is so cool for me. My brother, Ryan, and my cousin, Chris both really enjoyed hanging out with the little guy, too. While sitting by the lawn, and looking out to the beautiful lake-and-mountains view, Patten would come up to us, and kindly ask, "Can we play frisbee? Where is it? Can we find it? Can we play frisbee?" all at once. Once again, it was hard to say no. We would play frisbee for a while, which was fun, because Patten would laugh after every time he threw it. His laugh was contagious! Anyways, that kid has an arm. He could throw that frisbee really far! I love spending quality time with all of my cousins, we are all really close!

The food is always great, too. From steak with chipotle butter to homemade brauts. Not a night went by where the food wasn't good. After dinner the teens-Ryan, Christopher, Jordan (a close family friend's daughter), Rance, Riley (Another close family-friend's nephew), and I would get ready to play our Sandpoint tradition game: Capture the Flag and/or Kick the Can. These games are perfect for Sandpoint because our cabin's back yard includes three levels of tall bushes with plant life to the right, (with paths=perfect for walking and sneaking), two hedges-which separate the levels- and tall trees. We all know to bring out black clothes. We wait until the perfect moment to start playing. When it's dark enough, we pick someone who's "it" first, and let the games begin. *Another one of my favorite moments.*
When on the dock, I like to tan and relax, but it's not long before Ryan decides that it's a fun, good idea to throw me into the lake. It's his thing to push people in. Thats why everyone tries to walk as far away from him as possible when on the dock. People have tried to push him in. It never works. I've tried. But no. He just grabs my arms and swings me the other way and *Woosh* I'm in the water. I've learned the hard way!
Water skiing is my favorite water activity. Tubing is fun, but it doesn't give me the feeling like water skiing does. When I get the chance to cut across glassy-smooth water, it's the best kind of ski. I don't know how to describe it. But it's amazing.

Although I did have such an amazing time at Sandpoint this year, it was good to be home. I'm ready for school.
Well, not totally ready for waking up at 5:30 a.m., but other than that, I'm ready!

Have a great rest of your summer, and have a great start to the 2013 school year!!
