My 3 week trip visiting my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Jon.
The thursday morning that I left for Reagan International Airport was quick-moving. I went to bed fairly early, and before I knew it, my alarm was buzzing in my ear a "piano-riff" sound that was rather annoying (at 5:00 a.m.). I shut off my alarm, got dressed, ate breakfast, and poof. I was ready to go.
Once I got to the airport, my dad and I checked my bag in and went through security. I picked up my traditional airport McDonald's meal and I was set. I was the last to board my plane as an unaccompanied minor (or UM). I said goodbye to Dad just before I walked down the boarding gate to the airplane taking me to Minneapolis-St.Paul International Airport. The flight was two hours long, and I hadn't really processed the thought that it was actually summer, and that I was on my way to DC. I was tired, and not all the way awake yet. I followed the flight attendant to the designated "Delta's Future Million Milers" room, where there was snacks and little boxes for lunch. I sat down and texted my parents, letting them know I made it safely to Minneapolis, and that I was now waiting for my next flight. Almost two hours passed until I boarded my flight to DC. It was a long flight, but when we landed, I got this rush of excitement, because I knew that when I stepped off that plane, I whole new adventure was waiting for me. I three week adventure filled with fun and laughter.
As I was escorted out of the gate, I saw my Aunt Nancy patiently waiting. The time had come! There was so much to see, so much shopping to do, and, not to forget, so much Starbucks to enjoy!
Stories and photographs from my trip are going to
be typed up and uploaded very, very soon!
